Much as I’d like a reliable daily, the MR2’s fun factor dictates I pass on the Forte. I’m good at locating MR2s on CL if you need one though...

As of two days ago, it is my only car. One of my younger siblings is now a licensed driver and has inherited by backup car, the Honda Fit. MR2 has officially evolved into a daily driver

Does the speedometer work? I feel like every MR2 ad I see on CL (regardless of generation) mentions a non-functional speedometer.

It blue my mind when I first bought it, and it continues to be very blue.

I dunno if it’ll ever be blue enough though.

I feel like it could be bluer. Parked next to a Grabber Blue Mustang once and it felt 97% of the blue that the Mustang was. I’ll have to upgrade it at some point...

Mine “works,” not perfectly but it’s pretty accurate.

Was kinda overestimating my speeds when I first got the car (stock) but now with bigger rear wheels it seems to read closer to actual GPS speed. Maybe the speed sensor’s on the front axle?

I just realized, that I NEED rally lights on my MR2.

If I find an MR2 on CL that you can import, you oughta put the lights from the Fiesta on it. Same color and stripes too, would be epic :D

Miata no question.

Mine has the 130hp, CA-spec 5S-FE Camry motor. Weighs like 4oo-some pounds for a 2.2l engine.

The only reason it hasn’t been swapped thus far is the loud intake right outside the driver’s door. Just roll down the window and VRUMMMmmmm

Nope! Stock it looked like this:

I gave up on keeping it stock when the shock absorbers started falling apart. Paint was a no-brainer.

Sunroof doesn’t, but the windshield does. The trim is cracked/poorly repaired, it’s on my list of fixes to do.

Honestly, I always wondered why Toyota didn’t sell more of those. They were and still are gorgeous cars. I know they were a bit spendy when new and I have heard comments from a few folks about the handling not being fun to drive - is it just really pushy or are they kinda scary? (Or maybe folks just really wanted a 2 ton SUV instead and were making excuses?)

Damn, 130hp?? And I thought NA JDM ones were kind of too slow at like 170hp... BEAMS ones are pretty sweet though I haven’t tested one in the mountains yet. But USDM turbo are also pretty slow right? Like under 200hp or something... Here we have revision 3 turbo that I buy for export to the US. 240hp, LSD and so on... Sooooo damn fun!
